CIPFA Hails Improved Exam Results

CIPFA’s diploma students have achieved significant improvements in the June 2008 examinations.  Pass rates for Audit & Assurance jumping a full 11% and Accounting for Decision Making rising by 17%; two of the more challenging exam papers.  All the other diploma papers had pass rates similar to December’s good results except for Taxation which at 60% saw a noticeable drop from the 93% pass rate achieved six months ago.

The Final Level results for the Finance & Management Case Study were excellent, registering an impressive 7% rise in the pass rate.  Students produced some very impressive high quality Strategic Business Management exam scripts, which witnessed a pass rate up three points at 75%.

The Certificate Level results were more mixed, with Financial Reporting pass rates rising three points to 67% and Financial Accounting within a single point of last time at 71%.  The pass rates for Financial Management Systems & Techniques and Management Accounting reflected the challenges some students experienced with parts of these papers.

CIPFA’s Education & Training Director Adrian Pulham said:

“The improvements seen in so many of CIPFA’s papers this year shows that our long-term education strategy is working and the time and effort invested in student support is really paying off. This is, of course, to take nothing away from the achievements of our students who have worked long and hard and deserve our warmest congratulations”.
