The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) welcomes the Early Day Motion (EDM) on income shifting that has been tabled in the House of Commons. The CIOT has long been of the view that fundamental reform to the structure of small business taxation is necessary if small businesses are to be able to plan their tax affairs with any degree of certainty.

The Chartered Institute of Taxation has announced the appointment of its new Officers, with effect from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on 13 May 2008.
Nick Goulding (currently Deputy President) becomes President. Nick is a senior adviser at KPMG LLP. His main areas of work are partnership and private client tax. Nick is currently Chairman of the CIOT Stakeholder and Charitable Working Parties and was formerly Chairman of the CIOT Membership Committee. He joined the CIOT Council in 2003 having been Chairman of the former CIOT Wessex Branch from 1992 to 1994.
