As part of the 80th birthday celebrations of Association of International Accountants (AIA), David Lewis, the Lord Mayor of the City of London, will attend the AIA graduate convocation in China and make a presentation to Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce.

The Lord Mayor will present a plaque on behalf of AIA to Mr Sang of Shanghai Lixin University to mark the 80th birthday of both AIA and the University.  More than 100 AIA students will be presented with their graduation certificates by AIA Chief Executive Philip Turnbull and some graduates will also receive awards for their outstanding performance.

The event will form part of the Lord Mayor’s visit to China in his role as the ambassador for the UK financial sector. Philip Turnbull and Sharon Gorman, AIA Recruitment and University Liaison Manager, will join the high profile delegation which will also visit Beijing, Tianjin, Xiamen, Changsha and Hong Kong. The visit will aim to promote business co-operation between the UK financial sector and businesses in the Far East.

“We feel honoured not only to be invited to be part of the Lord Mayor’s delegation, but also to have the Lord Mayor attend our graduate convocation – what a great way to celebrate the joint 80th birthday of the AIA and Shanghai Lixin University,” commented Philip Turnbull.  “We have enjoyed close links with the University for almost 15 years and are delighted to be playing our part in continuing to increase educational opportunities, raise professional standards and forge closer links in China.”
