Examination Paper Exemption

The Association of International Accountants (AIA) has reached an agreement with the University of Bolton’s Business School which will enable AIA students and members to be exempt from the first two years of the Business School’s Accounting Degree.

This new agreement comes into immediate effect.  It enables AIA students and members who, since January 2001, have completed the first 12 papers (modules A-D) of the AIA examination scheme to be eligible for exemption from the first two years of Bolton Business School’s BA Honours Degree in Accounting.  This will allow students to enrol onto level 3, the final year, of the programme.  Attendance for the final year can either be at the university or at one of the partner colleges in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Russia or the UAE. The university is able to assist students in applying for a UK visa if attending the programme in Bolton.

“This is the fifth British university with which we have formed an exemption agreement.  It is obviously of great benefit to our members and students giving them greater opportunities in further education,” explains AIA Chief Executive Philip Turnbull.  “UK accountancy degrees are highly-prized in many parts of the world and are particularly sought-after in the Far East.  We are delighted that this latest initiative will help our students and members to achieve their goals.”

Martin Shaw, Principal Lecturer, Recruitment and External Relations of the University of Bolton’s Business School, commented, “We are pleased to be able to welcome AIA members and students in this way.  It is great to be linked with a renowned body like the AIA; it will make it easier for overseas students to benefit from the high standards of teaching in British universities.”

Located close to the cities of Manchester and Liverpool, the University of Bolton has over 9,000 students. The Business School offers a full range of course from HNDs and Foundation Degrees to undergraduate, Masters, MPhil and PhD research degrees.  It also has Continuing Professional Development and short courses.

Bolton Business School joins the Universities of Northampton, Hertfordshire, Newcastle and Greenwich, all of which have formed similar exemption agreements with the AIA.
