Meaning of "Surplus"

Postby 777888 » Sun Mar 08, 2015 2:45 am

I was reading a company's website and the following information is available.

Key Financial Measures:
Total Assets 10,526
Surplus 1,681
Total Comprehensive Income 172
Total Funds under Management 25,000

1) What does "surplus" mean here? Is it the same thing as shareholders' equity? What do you think?

2) What does Total Funds under Management mean?

Any help would be appreciated!
