I didn’t get through P2 (again) in this June session. I was thinking of setting up a study group on this site for people planning to sit P2 in Dec. Its pretty tough studying on your own especially if you’re coming back from work because opening your books isn’t too high on ‘Things I Want To do’ list at that time. However having a small study group helps to raise the motivation level and provides an opportunity to exchange study tips and discuss complex topics.

So if somebody’s interested do let me know so that we can kick start things ASAP.

Sounds like a great idea however I’ll be sitting it next June.  If it is still up next year I’d like to participate.

I’m fortunate enough to know quite a few folk studying this in my class, however it is my last and am therefore keen to pass it.

What way does a study group work?

Hello again everybody. Since we’re all pressed for time and we need to get this group started off ASAP I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on how to run the study group.

I have a rough idea of how we should cover the vast P2 syllabus:

Break down the key P2 topics/areas into weekly sessions where we could all post/discuss our own experience/tips/problem areas related to the topic/area selected for the week. We should intend to cover the major areas by the first/second week of Nov so that we can all have ample time for revision.

Again its my own take on P2 (which could be way off the mark) but I strongly believe the P2 exam revolves around a few areas: Group Accounts, the advanced P2 stds, the relatively more complex aspects of F7 Stds and Current Issues. If we can do a bit of all of the four or even the first three every week we should be able to cover almost the entire syllabus before the Revision stage.

So unless we can come up with a better way to run the Study Group I suggest we go over the following areas during the coming week and post our feedback latest by Friday Sept 10, 2010 in a new post entitled ‘P2 Dec 2010 - Session 1’.

- Basic Consolidation revision
- IAS 16,40
- IAS 36,38

Hi,

good luck with your studies, I thought I’d just post some sites I found useful for P2:

http://www.theexpgroup.com/expand/15-p2_corporate_reporting_int.html

http://www.kieranmaguire.co.uk/Kieran/ACCA_P2/ACCA_P2.html

and keep an eye on the following:

Hope it helps

I may have to join this.  Received the tuition and revision notes today; christ, the tuition notes are thicker than most of the textbooks. May have to rethink doing 3 exams!
