Hi,

I would be very interested to hear about other student’s experience of on-line distance learning for CIMA. What was good/bad, recommend a provider etc.

Thanks

i used lsbf and they were excellent it was the online lectures that really made a difference,

i could watch them as many times as i liked and they were decent quality and covered nearly all of the syulabuss

its not as good as the classes but its the next best thing if you are busy all the time and so on

they have some samples up check them out

I was wondering the same.  I’m considering taking an online course with either BPP or Kaplan for ACCA F7 and wondered whether anyone has experiences they could share. I thought with replayable lectures you could go over points you didn’t get first time and as a way to back up your reading. Anyone got any comments on the quality the lectures and of the support you get with either provider?

Hi. I used insaf Smartclass and it’s best for me. That is online lectures but are not recorded, they are live and you get the chance to speak with the tutor during the sessions ... that was great .... u know…. rather than sending out emails after watching the recorded lectures ... but, I agree that insaf does not provide a recorded version of the lesson ... I think it may be because they provide the lectures on a one to one basis, so if you were not there, the tutor will also cancel the lesson ! So no recording needed I guess !

Will be happy if this was helpful !

I would be very interested to hear student feedback on the various online learning products out there.

As many will know, I am a tutor and director at LSBF and I am the “face” of P1 and P7. We went for an approach whereby you get to see actual tutors teaching in a studio environment, and can also see what we write. As well as the recorded videos covering the whole syllabus, and revision with worked questions, we also have live sessions allowing interactive “chat” (the student types the question, the tutor sees it live and responds by talking/writing the answer).

Other providers go for different approaches, and so far I have not seen anyone else put the actual tutor on the screen. Some seem to go for the class notes scrolling, and being highlighted/filled in, with a voiceover explaining what is going on. Others have a tutor’s head, but using a webcam only and it looks poor quality to me. As this thread has said, there is even a more personalised one-to-one service available by the hour, where both tutor and student can talk to each other and write things down the other can see.

I suspect the classroom will continue to be the most popular choice for now, but as lives get busier and technology improves, well-thought out online services are bound to do well.

Over to you forum - thoughts?

HI Paul

I recommend LSBF a lot especially for the quality of the tutors I think that’s what really makes a difference, you always remember the good ones

I have signed up for the LSBF online programme and did enjoy it, the only thing I found is sometimes maybe the lectures are a bit long for me, maybe half an hour chunks but again this is me,

The quality was good, and the tutoring was good

I don’t thinkt there is anything else like this out there

I dislike when they just have a pen or blackboard style video as you don’t really feel like its being explained to you by someone and you don’t quite get the classroom experience that you are looking for from online videos that I believe you guys deliver

Havent tried the live sessions

Open tution do the scrolling notes but they are a free resrouce so cant complain and very good too they put a lot of effort in,

I agree classroom will alwatys be number one, I have made some good friends from college and its always easier to absorb info directly

But I really like your online lecturers and recommend them to all my friends
