Just been reading through everyones posts…..and congratulations to all those who passed, some of your results are amazing!

And for those who didn’t downer just gotta keep your chin up any try again. I’m sure most of us will have to go through it at some point.

I was lucky enough to pass this time round (F7-59% & F9-56%) but it was pretty close!

Now got F6 and P1 to look forward to for Dec’09 long face

Post 1!

I failed my first exam :-(

I got exemptions for F1-F7 + F9 and have passed P1, P2, P3 and P7 first time home study.  Got marks ranging from 51-65, but I’ve been chuffed with everyone!

Gutted I failed P5 in June, especially as it was by 2 marks.  I was hoping to be an affiliate (and would have completed ACCA in 18 months.

I’ve applied for an administrative review… Had to with a 48, just needed to know there was no chance.  But not too hopeful.  I’m now looking forward to passing P5 in December and being an affiliate/member come February, my TDM and experience etc are all up to date, so it all rests on 1 exam.

Congartulations/Commiserations to everyone!!!  Some excellent marks on here, and it’s really good to hear of people doing well.

Welcome to AS.

Sorry to hear that you’ve failed this one, but I do like your ‘you won’t hold me down’ attitude.

I’m sure you’ll go far, let us know what they tell you after your administrative review.

Good luck

I passed F6 with a score of 65%. I’ve never been academic, in fact this exam is the first time I’ve ever really studied for anything in my life. I left school with nothing and worked through college certicicates to get to here. So I’m incredibly chuffed with my achievement. I’m still going to work through the exams one at a time but without sounding to egotistical I’m actually really proud of myself. If I had failed I don’t think I would of been able to come back from failing the first thing in my life I’ve really truly worked at. Congratulations to all the others that passed and to those that failed I hope you have the strength of character to bounce back from this bump in the road even stronger.

Let us know how the review goes. My understanding is they won’t mark your paper again. Just check that it has been added up properly. (I’d hope the markers could add to 48!!) They will also tell you if you passed or failed each question (Won’t tell you the marks though)Don’t get your hopes you’ll get a pass as they won’t overule the marker.

Hi all!  Always meant to come back since a few people did ask…

As expected (and advised by a few of you) the administrative review was the biggest waste of £50 ever (thank goodness my company picked up the bill).  Basically they just re-tallyed my mark and told me what questions I passed and failed (not very helpful).

Just sat P5 agains in December and it was equally as horrendous as June, I just wasn’t a fan of the style of this paper.  I can’t believe some of the topics that come up over huge topics.  Anyone, hoping I scrape the 2 extra marks I needed and I felt so much more prepared for it.

Do they not even give you a copy of your marked script? I’d have thought this is the least they could do for £50. At least you could then see how you did and what you need to work on. 5-20 sheets of paper and a first class stamp - surely that could be included within the ‘administrative review’, which is a very good money spinner for ACCA!

Not even!  You get a letter saying (roughly speaking) “better luck next time” and little table that says:

Question   Pass/Fail
1       P
2       F etc

And they are nice enough to include the paper you failed and the examiners answer.  £50 worth spent to get a copy of an exam you can print online for free.

It is not helpful in the least and I wouldn’t advise it to anyone (unless you’re not paying yourself)!!

So the paper they wasted for the copy of the exam & answers could have been used productively by providing a copy of your marked script - strange.

I’d never consider it unless I got 49%, even then I’d think twice as marginal scripts are surely checked again for an extra mark.
