Hello everyone!

Just thought I’d say hello and introduce myself. I’ve been reading the posts on here for the last few days and I must admit it’s getting a bit addictive! hats off to the people who maintain this website and to the people who take time out to contribute and reply to posts on the forums.

After getting out of college with a 4 year computer science engineering degree in early 2001, I took the first job that came my way and have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in different industries since then. Thinking about it, I’ve had a transition almost every 12 to 18 months for the last 8 years and have gradually moved from pure IT roles to the more sandwiched-type roles with supervisory and managerial responsibilities.

Although I’ve always wanted to do some sort of financial studies, I just haven’t had the chance to take time out to sit and study in the past. That and the recent carnage in the industry have sort of triggered my thoughts again on getting an accounting qualification.

Having made up my mind, I’ve started studying for the AAT first and I hope (and plan) to move on to ACCA at some point in the future. I’ve opted to do unit 31 (from the advanced certificate level of the AAT diploma) via distance education and the rest of the modules on an instructor-led model in the evenings. I have no idea where an accounting qualification like ACCA will take me but I’d quite like to work in audit or advisory services at some point in the future. If not anything else, I hope it’ll prepare me for the more business-oriented roles in the future.

My target and goal is to complete the ACCA before I hit 34!!

Take care!

K
