Tax has been in existence for ages, even in the bible days but one sad thing about it is its short-comings in collecting it. Surprisingly and sadly, this short-comings are still in existence today. Tax collection is for the growth of an economy, i.e personal and /or corporate contribution/support to build a society.
With the global financial meltdown, with prices of commodities falling (crude oil, gold, etc) countries are now turning to tax for additional revenue. We are now moving back to the age where The Romans used to “over-forcefully” collect tax and if you don’t have they destroy your properties and/or take you as a slave. The stringent Tax Policies implemented nowadays will soon make it hard for people to put food on their tables.
The reduction in VAT rate in UK though appreciated is not enough to remedy this for there are many more to be done not only with the policies but with, most importantly, the execution. Tax collectors (men on the field) should be given more lectures about collection of tax and how to deal with different scenarios before writing a report to the office about a situation. Tax collection should not be a “Zombie” thing but should be fair.
