Tax has been in existence for ages, even in the bible days but one sad thing about it is its short-comings in collecting it. Surprisingly and sadly, this short-comings are still in existence today. Tax collection is for the growth of an economy, i.e personal and /or corporate contribution/support to build a society.

With the global financial meltdown, with prices of commodities falling (crude oil, gold, etc) countries are now turning to tax for additional revenue. We are now moving back to the age where The Romans used to “over-forcefully” collect tax and if you don’t have they destroy your properties and/or take you as a slave. The stringent Tax Policies implemented nowadays will soon make it hard for people to put food on their tables.

The reduction in VAT rate in UK though appreciated is not enough to remedy this for there are many more to be done not only with the policies but with, most importantly, the execution. Tax collectors (men on the field) should be given more lectures about collection of tax and how to deal with different scenarios before writing a report to the office about a situation. Tax collection should not be a “Zombie” thing but should be fair.

In my opinion it hasn’t quite reached “Apocolypse” stage yet but with economic forecasts spelling out doom and gloom I can see it turning that way in the next 2 years.

I would have to agree with you though on the matter of Tax Collectors. Although I have no experience whatsoever in the field I can appreciate that the operation of collecting Tax Money is one thing on paper (Theory) and another thing in reality completely.

But still, Tax has taken a substantial proportion of a persons income for many decades, it’s just now that the money that is being taken away is far more needed, which is probably something that most people don’t consider when good economic growth has taken away any urgent financial dependencies on basic incomes….?
