Congrats all the affiliates..  On the day I got my results I also got offered a new job…  Now that was a day and a half.  Well chuffed for all of you.  What are all the affiliates plans now they are no longer tethered by exams?  (Will start a new thread under affiliates…)

Congrats for all the passes, comiserations to those who didn’t. But don’t give up hope, and for those doing the core subjects there will be Caz’s study group. I’m sure the old P1 group was a large part of the reason for my mark in that subject.

And congrats to all the new affiliates and members. I’m hoping it will be me in August, just got P2 INT & P6 (adv tax), my STR is banked. I work in tax (but in a very specialised area of corp tax), so there will be lots of questions I suspect being asked of colleagues. And our team has recently been joined with the statutory reporting team, who have a great knowledge of IFRS, so lots of questions that way too!

Here we go again ...

Crickey! This is the busiest this thread has ever been as far as I can remember.

Got back from a funeral from Canada yesterday. After putting the kids to bed, finally got a chance to get online and check my results. Happy to report that I passed P1 and P2. Bit stunned. Did not expect to pass P2 as I didn’t finish the paper.

Got 4 more left. Phew. Reeling at the moment with jetlag and results. Hope I feel a bit more awake as the day progresses.

Congratulations to all those who passed, commiserations to those you didn’t get what they expected.

Bluewednesday - February 19 2008 02:10 AM

Hi Bluewednesday!

Apologies for not keeping up to date with this forum. Since I’ve joined practice, life is a little bit more hectic than I anticipated. But worth it as the experience is invaluable.

I’ve got to take F8 (as I failed it last June), P3 and then Advanced Audit and Advanced Tax (can’t remember paper number off hand).

I’m hoping to sit for F8 and P3 in June.

How about you? Last I heard, you were attempting 3.1 or 3.2.

Hraj

Hi. Nice to see you back.

Congrats on passing P1 & P2. I take it you paid for but didn’t sit F8 in December?

Hi hraj

Yes I’ve passed 3.1 and 3.2 and now P1 so hoping to get through P2 and P3 this June.

Well done on your results!

Thank you Mature-student and Bluewednesday.

Mature-student, you’re correct that I paid for but didn’t attend F8. I was under the misguided impression that since I’ve attempted it once, I can go ahead and sit the other papers and resit F8 later. By the time I realised what I’d done, it was too late and I just carried on.

Really pleased to hear to nailed 3.1 and 3.2, Bluewednesday.

It is good to be back. Cannot comment on my staying power at present as it will be audit season soon. All hands on deck and all that. Like the look of the new website.

P1 - 69%
P2 - 48%
P3 - 51%

Really disappointed about my results. They’re not as bad as I think they are but the fail was heartbreaking. I was really worried about P3 but I was sure I had passed P2 quite convincingly. Looking at other peoples comments I dont think I’m alone with that thought!

I have applied for a review of the results (£50) but I need to know where I went wrong for June otherwise the same thing could happen. 6 more months without a payrise :(

Waksta 69% is an excellent result and 51% is still a pass.  To get 48% you will have done very little wrong.  There is only a very fine line between passing and failing these exams.  If you have already paid for the script review then use it.  Otherwise I would really not bother.  you already have the knowledge to pass the exam (you don’t get 48% without it) and you just need a little extra push.  It is rare for exactly the same topics to come up two sittings in a row and you will learn little (I would suggest) from the script.  Just concentrate on getting more practice in and next time you will walk it.

Don’t worry and chin up there are people worse off than two passes and a 48% in ACCA exams.  Take a break, and then get back on the horse.  I failed plenty of times so I should know…
