Hi

It was only the other day that I came across an article in Student Accountant where ACCA recommended students to mark the address that the results e-mails come from as a ‘safe sender’ i.e. a trusted sender of genuine e-mails, so your pc, doesn’t chuck the e-mail in the spam folder! I assume this is their attempt to answer the problems that have plagued mainly yahoo and hotmail customers over the past 2 results announcements (although I don’t think it was Hotmail’s fault last August ...)

Instead of this, why don’t ACCA encourage students to have their results delivered to their ACCA e-mail address instead? I have just come across an interesting article on ACCA’s ACCAmail  system, and it just seems like the obvious answer for those that use free ISP e-mail accounts, like Yahoo and Hotmail.

Thoughts anyone?

PS Just signed up for an account to see what it’s like. And it’s got pretty much all of the functionality you’ll need. And seeing as how it’s ‘free’ (well inluded in our subs fees), why not make use of it?

Hmmm sounds like a good idea but the problem is that after all the problems with the TDM I have absolutely no confidence in an email system created by the ACCA.

Can understand what you’re saying Caz. However, it appears that ACCAmail is not created by ACCA, they have outsourced this to a third party. Which I suppose throws up another set of questions.

I’ll stick with my btinternet account and hope there aren’t any problems. In the past they’ve always come through before “getting up time” although now I’ve said that I’ve probably jinxed myself!  wink

There’s also the question; will you be able to access the webpage on results day given the volume of traffic they get?

Well I’ve set it to go to accamail because there is an option to forward it to your regular mail.  I figured that hopefully that would be the best way to make sure it arrives this time.

Under options and then mail forwarding.  Glad I’ve done this as a test mail I sent went straight to my hotmail but hasn’t turned up in my normal inbox yet!

Sorry it’s options, mail preferences and then ‘mail forwarding’ is under ‘mail sending’

Ok I’ve been seduced by technology. cool grin

I’ve set my results to be sent to accamail, when it is received by accamail they are going to notify my mobile phone “mailbox” that my results have been received, my mobile phone provider will then send me a text message to inform me of this. I can then download the email from accamail directly onto my mobile phone to view my results but as a back-up plan, just in case I can’t download the email, I have also requested that accamail forward a copy of the email to my usual provider!

I just performed a test by forwarding my last results email to my accamail account and it took just under two minutes from pressing the send button to receiving the text alert. When i went to my inbox for my btinternet account the email was also there.

Life is so complicated tongue laugh

I do use ACCAmail system for general purpose but NOT for important emails such result notice. really annoyed by their incompetency of solving problems. I only registered for F9 last Dec, but had been registered for F9 & P1 , which turned out that my exam result of P1 was absent and I also owed them 61 pounds. The problem hasn’t been solved yet even though I’ve been chasing this matter for more than 4 months.

I believe ACCAmail is run by a third party, not be ACCA themselves.
