Hi All,
As this is “Steve’s Q&A;” Forum, we thought it best if I gave you a brief profile of me so you know who you are dealing with!
My name is Steve Colling and I am an AAT & ACCA qualified accountant. I started my career working in a variety of industries before leaving industry to work in practice in 1998.
I have worked for Leavitt Walmsley Associates Ltd since 1999 having both trained and qualified with the firm. I am Audit and Technical Durector at LWA and specialise in Audit and Financial Reporting issues (both UK GAAP and International). My main responsibility at LWA is ensuring the firm complies with all technical guidance for Audit, Taxation and accounts preparation and ensuring our clients affairs are dealt with in accordance with in-house standards. I also hold Statutory Auditor status. I also advise other firms of accountants in technical compliance and tax legislation as well as auditing other firms’ clients where they are not eligible to undertake Audit work. I also have an interest in Taxation for the small/medium enterprise (SME) sector. In addition to LWA, I am also a partner in AccountancyStudents.co.uk.
I am also a freelance technical author and write Audit and Financial Reporting articles for this website as well as the odd tax article when Finance Acts change. I also write articles for qualified Accountants on AccountingWeb and have published articles on FinanceWeek.com and in the Accounting Technician magazine. I have published a book on IFRS and IAS and am currently working on another book concerning the Clarified Auditing Standards which is due for publication in February 2011.
The aim of this section of the website is to help the students understand technical aspects of their studies by putting these into a ‘real life’ perspective and offering the qualified members of this website advice on technical issues also from a real life angle.
