We have already been successful in having their facebook account closed down but this loser seems to want to create a site the easy way on the back on other peoples hard work.

Please be aware that there is only ONE Accountancy Students site run by us and that is on the .co.uk domain (although we do also own the .com as well). Any other domain or blog purporting to be us is NOT and is in no way associated with us.

The maintenance is expected to last 3 hours during which time AccountancyStudents.co.uk will not be available. Please make copies of any online resources that you may need during that time.

At midnight we will move onto our new ‘Owl’ server which will produce noticeable improvements in the speed of the site. As this involves changing our IP address and DNS settings it means that until your ISP updates its cache you will be directed to the old server. This is normally resolved within 24 hours but can take up to 72 hours.

In order to avoid confusion:

Old Server (Atlas)
This server will continue online for 72 hours and display an offline notice preventing any new posts or registrations being made. Therefore if you see an Offline notice you are looking at the old server - in which case please try again later.

New Server (Owl)
The new server will run the site as usual from midnight.

]]> An Xmas Message from AccountancyStudents tag:accountancystudents.co.uk,2009:discussion/viewthread/.16411 2009-12-23T08:06:59Z 2009-12-23T08:08:43Z Steve Collings As we all now finish work for the festive season, I, like many others who work in practice, have the grim prospect of the self-assessment season upon us as well as the December year end audits to plan.  Many accountants will be working over Christmas and last year, HMRC confirmed that 620 people in the UK filed their tax returns on Christmas Day.  This comprised 224 accountants and 396 individual taxpayers.

There is one thing for sure, I certainly won’t be filing any returns on Christmas Day!

It has been a busy and difficult year for business and particularly on AccountancyStudents, we still see a rising number of threads posted by students and affiliates alike who are struggling to secure work with 1 vacancy in a particular workplace attracting so many applicants that competition is extremely stiff.

However, as 2009 ends we can only hope that 2010 will bring a lot more hope and positvity amongst the profession and its students with hopefully many more success stories being posted on here in 2010. On that note we will end by wishing all of our members and guests a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2010.
