Hi Guys

I am sitting P3 this December and planning to take a revision course at Kaplan London. Can someone recommend a tutor there? There are quite a few of them between the 3 locations.

Also I failed P7 (UK) for the second time 48 & 47. I was with BPP and now thinking of changing. Which revision course would you recommend?

Thanks

Hi guys,

I have failed the P3 paper the last exam sitting and have to go for revision course somewhere.

I did my original course in Manchester (Kaplan). However their revision course for P3 is first week in November - which to be honest could create problems at work. In Leeds it is 3rd Week in November, but there is different tutor…

In Manchester the tutor is Paul Anderson and in Leeds it is Oliver Seed.

Can anyone give me any insight whether they consider the Leeds tutor good? I found the paper quite difficult to understand the questions - or more to the point, which model the examiner wanted me to use if he asked specific question…

Any help appreciated

Thank you

Hi all,

Following a PM I just wanted to ensure everyone understands the effect of the ACCA new syllabus.

From June 2011 F7 and P2 will NOT be offered on a UK GAAP basis.

UK GAAP is gone from new syllabus.

There will still be a UK option but it is a IFRS GAAP syllabus

so in 2011

F7/P2 UK = IFRS with UK law (companies act 2006)

F7/P2 INT = IFRS generic

Either way you study IFRS!!

There is no point entering F3 UK this December…it is still UK GAAP and going no where!

I hope that makes sense

Just failed F7 AGAIN (missed out by a few marks, again) but passed F8

To keep on track, im thinking if I started F9 and P1 learning this week, I could quite comfortably do all 3 in December, in terms of time to learn and then revise

Would this be too much to manage? I haven’t looked much at F9 and P1 yet, but have the guides in front of me and they don’t seem too bad

How would a firm actually find out if someone hasn’t passed their exams first time? I thought the results shet just showed exams passed and the score.

If an applicant stated, at an interview, that they had passed first time how would the firm check? Would ACCA be allowed to divulge?

Hi everyone,

Our client based in Bulgaria (EU) is requesting us to send them a document in relation to tax at source of 10% for the bills that we have invoiced them.

This is quite strange as we have a turkish client who deducts the 10% from our bills and issues us with a certificate from their respective authorities reflecting the amounts deducted .We treat the tax credit deducted as UK tax already paid (similar to the rules for bank interest).

I am not sure if the same applies to EU clients as this is the first time that a client has requested this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Well, I have just received an e-mail from ACCA welcoming me and inviting me to attend the graduation ceremony in November.

So what’s so bizarre you might ask?

The fact that it’s two years since I became an affiliate, that I attended the cermony in 2008, by which time I was a member and I have paid member’s fees ever since.

And slightly more bizarrely when I phoned ACCA, they were only a little surprised, and not at all concerned, just a ‘thanks for letting us know, I’ll check your records and update them if necessary!’.

Ok, so I am nearing the end and I think, for the first time in 3 years, I may actually put in a couple of months worth of work (as opposed to 4-5 days) and try to nail the final three in December. Not having any more summer exams may motivate me to do so. Also, I think the fact that it could be all over if I put in a load of work is a a great motivator.

I have to do P2; I’m going to audit, even though I hate it, because I feel it’s the easiest of the options, added to the fact that I would like a wordy paper, and am torn between p5 and p6. I feel I’d enjoy P5 more, but would like some thoughts.

PS: I may not end up doing 3 because it’ll probably be too much, but it’s certainly a possibility at the moment.
