Hey People
i wanted to ask how is the Bsc of Oxford Brookes recognized by other institutions in England. I mean if i get BSc degree along with ACCA would i be able to get admission in a good UK institute of MBA or MSc using that degree, if i want to do MBA or MSc too.

This is my first post so im sorry in advance for anything wrong i might have posted .

Mr.Ali Raza , Supposedly u live in pakistan , In Pakistan now BSC degree is recognized by HEC(Higher Education Commision). But not by many instituions like LUMS and IBA.
I know why are u trying to do MBA from abroad after ACCA, As u perceive that their there isnt a huge market for ACCA. Let me tell you If u wanna go abroad then ACCA is enough to earn a respectable salary. In Pakistan its a Dilema.

Thank You for your reply Mr Arslan Shahid. But what about the universities in UK? Do they accept the Degree?

Hi aliraza

Yes, the degree is recognised in the UK, I would say coupled with the ACCA would stand you better ground for MBA or MSc.  ACCA on its own though is also highly recognised as a professional qulaification in its own right.

Hi everyone
i was asking for its recognition because i might do MBA after ACCA. One of my friend has done ACCA and he says its very boring and he says i will be stuck in one field only, so if i do MBA after ACCA there will be more variety for me in terms of jobs. How does that sound?
At the moment i will be doing CAT from Skans, Lahore. And then i will complete rest of ACCA from England.

I have been a strong advocate of this type of combination. I will recommend you to opt for it. But what abt the expereince required for ACCA?.

Aliraza

I am also doing ACCA and as yet have found it varied, some of the papers are broad in their realtion to each other and their is a bit of variety to keep everyone happy.  From personal experience you should not be stuck in one field - look at the syllabus for the papers and the requirements.

In terms of ACCA - there are a lot of options available to students - practise, industry, teach etc.  MBA is more of an academic qualification and will provide you with a good balance.

If you are just starting out your CAT and then planning to do ACCA, I would not focus too much on which qualification you need to pick after that.  Try and focus on what you already have ahead of you.

Hi Arslan and Label
To answer your question Arslan i have heard that ACCA can be completed in three to four years time, and the work experience requirement is 3 years. i just turned 17 this july so even if it takes me 6-7 yers to get ACCA degree, i can still do MBA as i will be around 24 by that time.
Anyway thanks for your advice label. You are right ts too early to be thinking what i will do after ACCA.

No not too early to think about it but you still have to complete CAT and then ACCA.  Your views that ACCA may be boring and limiting in which field you can go into will be challenged when you are studying the ACCA, which may change your mind about future qualifications.

Arslan, bear in mind he is 17 and has the next 6 or 7 years of his life mapped out ahead of him?  He still has to grow and challenge his views which in this time he will do?

Here you prove my point that irregardless of your aspirations prior to starting a qualification - circumstances and aspirations change as you develop so cannot decide for certain which qualifications you will take after completing the qualificaion you are undertaking.

Yeah but in the case i have narrated u, ie mines. I ha no aspirations before starting ACCA and so there is no point in there change. YEah but after completing ACA i am struck now that what to choose. If i had a clearly defined goal then of course this wouldnt had been the case.
