AccountancyStudents Forum Rules

It’s our aim to make this a great place to be for people to chat about accountancy and build a community, free from nasty comments, abuse and confusion. These rules have been designed to help that. Yet please remember this is a privately owned site, posting is a privilege, not a right. Any posts or anyone that threatens the site’s resources will be dealt with appropriately solely at the discretion of AccountancyStudents with or without reasons given.

These rules may be changed or amended as AccountancyStudents sees fit at any time to protect the site.

Abuse

To report an abusive, offensive or racist post please use the ‘Report’ link at the top of each post and we will deal with it as soon as possible. If you receive an abusive, offensive or racist private message (PM) please contact us..

Please bear in mind the forum operates on a report-an-abuse system. The Administrator does not necessarily read all posts. Action can only be taken on posts reported using the above methods.

Advertising

Posts on any board considered to be advertising goods, services and/or companies will be removed unless prior permission has been obtained from the Administrator. We also do not allow advertising via PM

If you think you have a good product or service that would be of interest please either contact us or take a look at the various ways of advertising on the site.

Avatars and Images

Please ensure that your avatar (the small picture under your username) and posts do not contain flashing images. Nor should these images be in any way copyrighted, rude or likely to offend. This includes advertising in the form of weblinks. Such images will be removed.

Be Considerate to Other Accountancy Students

Remember, studying accountancy should be fun. Everyone using these boards is here for the same reason, to learn about accountancy. So please be considerate to other accountancy students. It should go without saying, but please remember that when using this forum. Please report any abusive/offensive/racist comments as detailed above.

Administrators

The Administrators are here to deal with illegal/abusive/offensive posts that are reported. If you report a post/thread please remember the following:

1) Please be patient. Some issues reported require discussion with other members of the AccountancyStudents team before action can be taken. In some cases this can take several days. Repeatedly emailing and asking what’s been done causes the Administrators additional work and only serves to delay action.

2) The Administrators are not always able to read every single post. Please assume they have NOT seen it rather than have.

3) The rule “Please be considerate to other accountancy students” includes all site users. Starting an abuse report saying “I can’t believe you haven’t removed this” is not polite and will not win you any plaudits.

4) The Administrators are not on the site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Night-owls reading the site at 3am on a Saturday morning should not expect a response before Monday. If you do get one before then, consider it a bonus!

5) Removal of forum users’ posting privileges is not taken lightly. No payment is asked from you to use this site therefore our first consideration must be towards protecting the site from increased cost and legal challenge. Posting on AccountancyStudents is a privilege not a right and we can refuse permission to post without giving a reason.

We are not required to justify our actions externally. As long as the Administrators and the team are satisfied that the agreed criteria are being followed, the action taken by the Administrators can be considered final and appropriate.

Illegal Topics

Please do not discuss illegal issues or those that are grey areas in law on this forum. Any such posts are removed when reported. These include file-sharing, breaking copy protection, hacks, keygens, trading registration codes, pornography, console modification (for example Xbox chipping), Russian MP3 download sites or other ways to illegally use software.

Keeping Threads On-topic

Please try not to take threads off-topic. This can be confusing for new users and makes it especially difficult for people coming through from search engines to find the information they want. Where requests from Administrators for threads to be brought back on track have not been followed off-topic posts may be removed. We encourage community, but not thread derailment.

Keeping Topics Relevant to the Forum

Please only start accountancy related discussions on the main forums. There is a forum provided for off-topic chat and discussion. The AccountancyStudents Lounge has been set up for fun and more lighter-hearted chat (although do still remember this is a friendly forum – keep it clean please).

If you post a topic that does not relate to the forum it’s posted on it will be moved to a more relevant forum or to the AccountancyStudents Lounge.
