I’m gettting myself in a right muddle, more nerves than stupidity I hope!!

When you are posting sales and Vat, do you debit SLCA and credit the sales & Vat or is it the other way? I am really struggling once it gets into posting to more than the basics to remember which way to do it. I know that the VAT + sales account should equal the SLCA in any given period but I just can’t remember which way to post them.

Also when writing up opening balances are they always debits on accounts or not.

Christ I’ll never pass in December :(

Unit 31, Revison question, Please HELP!!

I am currently revising for my simulation for unit 31, I have come across a question in the revision companion that isn’t included in the course companion, surprise surprise.

Can someone please explain the following to me, my brain hurts too much to try and get my head around it!!!

Given are the annual income for a business covering 2002/06
2002 153,640
2003 167,040
2004 185,600
2005 201,000
2006 215,000
and the RPI to cover the same period
2002 139.2
2003 141.9
2004 146.0
2005 150.7
2006 155.1
The question asks to ‘convert the figures to real terms based on 2006 and include the real annual year on year growth turnover in the analysis’.

The course companion does not cover this so I am a bit stumped, looking at the answers I can work my way back so I have worked out the formula just need some background information or it won’t stick.

Can anyone help

Many thanks

Hello,

I have started my studies with BPP at the end of last year (Units 30 & 31) with distance learning. It says that you can do Unit 31 in the Intermediate level as well as in the Foundation Stage.

My question: How did you do it? Did you study them both at the same time (like: one unit one week and the other unit the other week) or did you do one Unit completly and then start the other one?

Please help as I dont know which way is advaisable!?!
I have asked BPP but they weren’t able to give me a proper answer. (It is up to you how you feel as you can do the skillstest when ever you are ready!)

I am aiming to do the Exam this summer.

Many thanks for any replies.

Posting crb

Does anyone have any tips on posting the crb to ledgers? im struggling with where to post the analysed columns, does it just go to sales? or slca and sales, as it would not be posted twice as the ‘reciept’ column does not get posted, so surely it must go to slca as it is decreasing what is owed to the company???

Any help much appreciated.

Control Accounts - am I right?

I think I had a flash of inspiration on the way to work to help me with double entry and control accounts, can someone tell me if I am right?

The SLCA/PLCA/WCA are all just the bank or cash book account with the sales/purchases/wages elements shown only. So whichever way postings would be made to the bank to show a sale/purchase/wages, is the same way to show it on the control accounts and then the sales&vat;/purchases&vat;, etc are the other way.

Is that right or am I on the wrong horse again!!
