I just wondered why the the text on the web site needs to be such a light grey which gives little contrast against the white background. Is the web site intended to meet any particular accessibility standards - if so what are they?

Personally I prefer black to grey, particularly when the light in the room is strong enough to read papers on my desk at the same time. As we get older we all tend to need better light to read by anyway, increasing the ambient light levels. I know how to alter the browser settings to make all the text black, but this this affects other web sites which don’t need it so deters me from visiting this site.

Hi

There appears to be a shed load of nonsense &/or spam type comments put against various blogs. Can you please arrange for these to be deleted and to cancel any related AS registrations?

Thanks

Hi All,

Following my thread last week about the agreed extras/amendments to the AccountancyStudents Website, we are now pleased to have on board some additional material exclusively aimed at passing ACCA exams. Further details will be brought to you all via an article and the AccountancyStudents newsletter which is due out very soon, but details can be found here:

http://www.accountancystudents.co.uk/cms/professional_bodies/acca_read/new_audible_exam_revision_aids_for_acca_students/

Students who struggle to source study material/tuition providers or those who have these but need extra revision will find these products really helpful.

Kind regards
Steve

Hello All,

Last month we issued an email to all our registered members asking for ideas and suggestions for the AccountancyStudents website and what improvements/additional features you would all like to see.

Mark and I would like to thank all of you who put forward ideas and suggestions. Following the consultation, we have decided to implement the following suggestions:

More articles
Technical articles are written by me on a periodic basis which try to balance the needs of those who deal with technical issues at work and those of a student nature. We received a few requests for more articles on accounting and auditing standards and I am pleased to say that I shall be publishing articles on a monthly basis (rather than every so often) for students to use as a revision aid. There will be an article next week on the revisions to IFRS 3 and IAS 27 and articles will follow monthly thereafter. I will also link other relevant articles provided by contributors or tutors on here that are published.

Each article will contain a question and answer section at the end of the articles to test your understanding of it. There will also be a link to my AccountancyStudents email if you feel you need clarification on the contents.

Quarterly Newsletter
For those of you who have registered via email, AccountancyStudents will be publishing a quarterly newsletter incorporating technical updates, general accountancy news, updates on what we are doing with the site and other issues which might be relevant at the time.

The Website
Mark is working on ‘tidying up’ the website so members can navigate it more easily. Of course this will involve removing some of the lesser used features on the site and moving others around to make it easier to use, so you should start noticing differences very soon. It is important, however, that if you want to see any additional features or re-instate any features that we have removed, then you must feel free to contact us by email - steve dot collings at accountancystudents dot co dot uk or mark at accountancystudents dot co dot uk

Exam Tips
A couple of weeks prior to the sitting we shall include on the site (and also within the newsletter) exam “tips” which students often find useful.

Exam material
We are in the process of developing some material that those of you who study at home may find useful. Currently these are only for financial reporting and audit papers and should be available within the next few weeks. They are not designed as a substitute for study material, they are mainly designed as a revision aid but some overseas and home studiers (and indeed those studying with tuition providers) may find them useful as a revision tool.

We are also looking at another resource to help…

Hi,

Does anyone else have a problem with their details at the side of posts changing on an adhoc basis? Like below?

Total Posts: 196
Joined 02-09-2007
Studying: ACCA
Method: College

Mine should say CIMA and College…

Hi All,

Following on from the email last week regarding the AccountancyStudents website.

We have received a number of suggestions as to improvements and additional features members of the AccountancyStudents site would like to see. Mark and I are looking at the suggestions at the moment and would like to thank those that have put their views and thoughts to us.

We are looking to implement the additional resources and improvements within the course of the next few weeks. Therefore if any of you wish to make suggestions as what you would like on here - or even what you don’t like on here, then please let us know - we want to hear from as many of you as possible. By getting as many suggestions and recommendations, it give us an opportunity to cater for everyone’s needs (students and qualified’s alike).

Feel free to post a thread on this forum, or, alternatively you can email either myself (Steve) or Mark:

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me where can I see the names of ALL members of this website.
In the old one, there used to be the names of members at the end of the page but now
I can see only those members who are online.
