Really over now!

I've done it.

It's finished, apart from a few months work experience, I've applied (and its been granted) for my Affiliate certificate so I can relax a bit.  I'm even on the affiliates database now.

I've been on holiday this week and today was my baby's 6th birthday, where has that time gone!!  The whole week has flown by and the children will be back at school next week.

It's been a real rush as my daughter is moving to secondary school (I'm more nervous than she is) and has needed a whole new uniform.  Last bit to be done was the shoes which were done (for both children) yesterday.  I would like to say that I can relax but I've got family coming up this weekend, a full day at work on Monday and then Dylan back at school on Tuesday and Paige at her new school on Wednesday.

This really is ramblings - I'm so tired now so will probably have to edit it tomorrow to make it make sense!

Over now

Thank god it's all over now.

I'm finally find time for all those things I want to do but couldn't do whilst studying, the only downside being I don't have any excuse for not doing that huge pile of ironing!

My first weekend of freedom feels really odd, I keep looking at the clock thinking I should be studying then realising that I don't have to.  Typically after complaining that we all haven't been together, the first weekend that we can be and my husband is doing a bike race in Wales.  100 miles up and down the welsh mountains on a road bike - he will be so cheerful (and shattered) when he gets back.  When he signed up for it we didn't realise that it would be Fathers Day either, so we hid his present in his bag and hope that he found it this morning.

I told the children I would take them to see Indiana Jones last week - as soon as the exams were over - so we went on Friday.  Dylan (aged 5) thought it was fantastic but a 60 year old Indy took some believing for a while for me!

Only another 9 weeks of sweating for results, I realised that I didn't do a broad enough answer paper for P3 so expect to either have to resit or just scrape through (just scraping through would do me for now).

Flu

I was really looking forward to the time off over Easter, I've had a nagging cough and felt really tired and also had a huge amount of study to catch up on .  I'd planned to finish the homework for P2 and then do the course exam as I've got the second day of P3 this Saturday and then that course exam will be due too.  All good plans - all gone out of the window!

I woke on Friday morning to find that proper flu (not just a bad cold) had visited over night.  I was lucky in a way because it means I don't get the guilt of missing work and also Simon is home (and is proving to be a very good nurse).  I've now turned the corner and am feeling better although still not eating and not drinking coffee (which for those who know me know that means I'm really ill).  Unfortunately my son (who's only 5) is now developing the suspicious cough.

So now the panic of finishing the home study and trying to finish the course exam before Saturday is on, I can't concentrate on anything at the moment so I don't think I'll be starting today - it's taken me over half an hour to type this out and I'm shattered doing that!

So everyone keep their fingers crossed that the children or Simon don't get it, please....

Will it ever end???

My boss has agreed to pay for my taught courses so I'm booked in and ready to start this Sunday.

I feel really guilty as I think I'm the last one to start studying again but I just can't seem to get up the motivation, it doesn't help that business analysis doesn't really interest me and I think Corporate reporting (which does) is going to be a complete mind blow.

On the health front, my voice is returned (sort of) and although I'm not supposed to shout, when your 5 year old is about to walk out into the road, there isn't much else you can do!  Apparently the lumps are likely to have been caused by my shouting under tension (who shouts any other way) so I have to have speech therapy to learn how to use my voice properly (not just extensively as I do now - got in before Caz could) and hopefully prevent a recurrence.

I'm really looking forward to Easter for a few days off with the family to lie in although you can bet that there will be course exams due!

Out in one piece

Well I had the op and am in my second day of not speaking.  Dylan can't wait until tomorrow as he is finding reading things so tiring, he's only 5 and only just started to read so I have to make sure I don't join up my writing and use simple words but he's done really well.

Apparently they weren't cysts in my vocal cords but the consultant still doesn't think it's anything to worry about, so if he isn't, I won't yet!

It was actually quite pleasant a stay in hospital, just snoozing and listening to the radio, quite sad to go but glad to be back in my own bed.

Now is time to think about results due soon

Hospital beckons

It's only just over a week to go to the results and for once I'm not counting it down.

It's been lurching from one thing to another since December, exams, Christmas, tax returns, hospital, results and then studying again.  This is my first weekend since I don't know when that we haven't had to do something.

So this week I have the exciting prospect of going into hospital for a biopsy on my voice box.  It all sounds rather serious until you google microlaryngoscopy and realise that it is a very straightfoward procedure.  I basically have what the doctors are fairly sure are cysts in my vocal cords which have to be removed.  I will find out for sure what they are in a couple of weeks but I just try not to think about that!

So my Valentine's day consists of, hopefully waking up with my husband rather than a room full of sick people and spending the day with him but not being allowed to talk.  As we are both off and the children are at school, I suggested lunch out - but we decided it might be a bit lonely if I can't talk to him.  If I feel like it we're going to go to the cinema on Friday as you can't talk there anyway.

Maybe then I'll think about exam results being due

When will it be over?

I'm so fed up with studying - if it wasn't for Caz it would have been even worse!!  Thanks mate!

I should have done some today but managed 3 reasons why a rules based approach is better than a principles based approach and then gave up!

Only a week to go and then we can start to live again.

Phew!!  Course exam 1 is completed and I've arranged to fax it in to BPP so it gets there on time.

However not phew about Lewis Hamilton this weekend, not a good start to my Sunday.  Lets just hope he can pull it off in a fortnight's time!

Getting ready

Well I've had a really bad day at work today.  I had an aggressive client saying that he hoped his corporation tax bill wasn't large (only not quite so pleasantly) as he couldn't see how he was making money.  He's also got a subbie who hasn't registered with the scheme so said he's paying him cash and we'll just have to sort it out!  I wish I hadn't rung him to tell him his CIS bill for the month!!  Why is it that the accountant is at fault for trying to keep people within the rules and on the right path?

My boss is on holiday for a few days so hopefully there will be no distractions and I can get on with the mountain of accounts that seem to have piled up!!

I've finally got sorted onto my course and am ready to start on Saturday.  I'm a bit apprehensive as this isn't really the type of paper that I like doing.  I much prefer the more technical papers.  I also spoke to BPP who said I might be better doing P3 which they have a good pass rate on until they have another sitting of P1 but I decided to go ahead on the basis of historically when a brand new paper is introduced there tends to be a high first pass rate - I need all the help I can get!

Anyone who read my previous blog will realise that I do tend to write rambling posts but it gets things off my chest - my therapy I think.
