Where on earth ... ? Part 1

Did the last six months or so go?

Right let's see if I can keep a blog going for more than three days LoL!

September

Back to the old study & work routine but with a twist. Full day release tuition courses - my request for extra days study leave has been granted   Definitely not impressed with FTC this time around, the new study text materials were all late, not all complete (some progress tests missing), and the new En-gage is awful in that:

1.  I had expected it to be book/pdf layout so set out into pages, with a clickable index, etc. But there's only a drop down list for chapter refs, and each chapter is on one screen, and you have to scroll up and down. Not very user friendly.

2.  You can't print from it. Ok, so it prevents people printing off the whole text. But even an option for printing off the extra bits that aren't in the main text (so you can add them in to your text folder) would be very useful.

And we were promised the revision kit and pocket notes by the start of the revision courses ie mid November onwards - far too late, and I for one use the pocket notes all the way through, not just at revision time

October

Quarter end time again, but my female intuition has been nagging me for a wee while now that something's not right at work. And I now think I know what it is - my 'boss' is leaving. And I'm only part way into my training - if he does go, until he gets replaced (in a very specialised field) my training will be most definitely on the back burner. Maybe not a bad thing just now with my studies at final stage, but I could do without the uncertainty.

Got an opportunity to ask him a couple of days before I went on holiday (a week in York, fab!) and he all but admitted it. The official announcement came two hours later. He's having to give thee months notice, but he's going at the end of the year ie before year end and the auditors. I've only ever done 1 year end before, and he did a lot of the technical stuff. S**t - he's a really nice bloke too, got a good understanding of work-life balance, and really knows his stuff, I'll miss him.

Some of you may have seen the panicked post that was posted at the time. Well, I did what everyone advised me to do. Wrote down all my worries, possible solutions, that kind of stuff and had a great meeting with him. Main issue is that in his notice period I'm only here for just under 4 weeks due to holidays, study time & Xmas. So much to learn, so little time ..
